The Landes de Gascogne forest is 70% PEFC certified, against a worldwide average of 5%.

The professionals of SPL have control systems audited by independent inspection bodies.
All SPL sawmills are PEFC certified.
All sawn timber output is guaranteed as coming from sustainably managed forests.

Some maritime pine products are also FSC certified.

The Landes forests were created by man and are grown in compliance with sustainable development rules to protect and pass on the heritage they represent.
The result of this is that the surface area planted with forests is conserved or even increased, as is the quality and diversity of habitats, and the sustainable management of wood resources. The management is certified and the wood it produces is identified.

The forest plays its ecological, economic and social role to the full.
Ecological role: wood is a carbon sink and contributes to combating the greenhouse effect. Trees that are felled are replaced by new trees that absorb CO2 in turn and perpetuate the cycle.
Economic and social role: all the direct and indirect economic activities resulting from the forest are decisive to the balance of the region. Maintaining this activity helps to preserve a living community and tourism activities in an unspoilt environment. Aquitaine is one of Europe’s leading tourist regions.
