Maritime pine in the construction sector
The place of wood in traditional construction techniques and in wooden houses is constantly growing. There are several reasons for this: demand for a comfortable way of life closer to nature, the evolutive house concept, ecological and economic reasons and the concept of the passive house. Maritime pine meets all these requirements perfectly, thanks to its natural warmth, veined effect and colour. It also provides excellent sound and heat insulation.
The qualities and characteristics of maritime pine make it much-appreciated among professional users for its user-friendliness. It is easy to cut, plane and surface, while nails and screws do not cause it to split. Thanks to this flexibility, maritime pine also allows energy and labour savings.
All these factors contribute to making it a most economical species.
All wood frame structures for all construction systems - posts, beams or frames – can be built in maritime pine, whatever the type of building (homes, offices, public buildings…).
SPL production facilities offer rough sawn or planed wood with cross-sections designed specifically for construction purposes.
Their mechanical and aesthetic qualities make these products ideal for creating outstanding living, leisure and working spaces.
The industrialists are constantly in liaison with all the stakeholders in the sector – architects, carpenters, builders and fitters.
For outdoor exposure, the wood is impregnated to protect it. The cell structure of maritime pine favours absorption of treatment products, and maritime pine can offer Class IV type durability according to the EN335 standard. This is a guarantee of longevity for professionals and occupants alike. |

STABLE BECAUSE DRY…
Dried wood has moisture content of less than 20%. Drying the wood improves its dimensional stability and mechanical strength. It prevents any twisting, warping or bending, as well as sterilising the wood and eliminating unwanted micro-organisms. |
Reference standards: EN336-Structural wood, 338-Structural wood, 350-1-Structural wood, 350-2 Durability and 384 Structural Wood.
