FRENCHWOOD - Sciage Pin des Landes

The man-made Landes de Gascogne maritime pine forest covers some one million hectares.
It produces (about) 7 million cubic metres of logs annually.
Out of this total, 1.5 million cubic metres of sawn timber are produced to meet market demand and quality requirements.
The forest is one of Europe’s largest reserves of wood, with somewhere in the region of 150 million cubic metres of standing timber.

Upstream from the transformation sector, the standing wood is selected to determine and optimise its future use.
The region’s industrialists have set up integrated supply-chain systems guaranteeing the supplies they need in terms of both volume and wood quality.
